Vento - Individual
Vento is the handheld PEP device that fits in your pocket, allowing you to perform your respiratory therapy anywhere, at any time, helping you breathe better.
PEP stands for Positive Expiratory Pressure. Blowing through the mouthpiece creates pressure in the lungs and airways, which helps keep them open. This helps to move more air in and out of the lungs.
The vibrations from the steel ball help to break up the mucus (phlegm), and the increased air flow helps to move phlegm out of the lungs into the airways. From here, it can be coughed up.
Vento can help in the treatment of asthma, COPD and other respiratory illnesses, and in the delivery of bronchodilators (medication).
Vento also exercises the lungs, as you blow against the pressure of the device. By tilting the device up or down slightly, you change how much pressure is created in the airways. You can also use a smaller steel ball in times of increased breathlessness, or a larger ball to exercise the lungs more.
